Tobaccology is a brand new B&M located in Manassas, VA on Route 28 near Bristow & Linton Hall Roads. I was fortunate enough to snag an invite to the “Founding Fathers’ Herf” prior to the official opening on January 30th. Boasting a walk-in humidor completely lined with Spanish cedar, the cigar collection ranges from Alec Bradley and La Flor Dominicana to 262 Cigars and El Primer Mundo. The lobby lounge sports two HD monitors (43″ & 32″) featuring sports, news, and the occasional pay-per-view event. With leather chairs and bistro tables, the lobby lounge is equipped to seat 14 comfortably with ample standing space for product placement and events.

The members only lounge in the rear sports a couple of cozy leather couches, a poker table, coffee machine, and two more HD monitors (51″ & 43″). The shop currently has 18 lockers for members with plans to expand. Currently memberships are $10 per month or $120 per year. Lockers are $80 per year bringing the total membership cost to $200 per year. Plans are currently in the works for lifetime memberships, but nothing has been formalized.

The owner, Brett Fry, is very proud of his new baby and looking forward to changing the cigar shop profile in the area. He has instituted a referral policy where current customers will receive a $5 gift card for each new referral. According to Brett, “It’s about character and relationships. I don’t have anything else kitschy or cliche to say.” After working at Old Virginia Tobacco Company in Manassas, Brett decided it was time to venture out on his own. Surrounded by a growing retail area, he feels he has an ideal location for cigar enthusiasts facing limited choices in venues to light up a cigar in lieu of current smoking bans.

Overall, this shop offers many of the comforts of home with a nice selection of cigars and many more to come. I recommend taking the time to stop by and give them a shot. Tobaccology definitely gets my “seal of approval”.

Until next time,

Good review and I like all the pictures. I’m going to have to check this place out very soon. It’s always nice to get a new option in the area.

Always good to have another cigar destination!!!

    • I like the fact that he is willing to go monthly on lounge memberships separate from the lockers. $10 a month isn’t bad to have a place to light up. I’m hoping he works out a “lifetime” option on lockers.

I couldn’t have said it any better. And I have tried.

    Nice write up, Ash.

  4. Thanks, Jeff. I’m trying to set aside some time to come out there and visit you too. Thanks for taking the time to read the blog. I really appreciate the support.

I found Tobaccology by chance. I was shopping in shoping center and saw a new tobacco store. Went in and was blown away. Brett and his customers were so nice I stayed and smoked my first real cigar. Went with recomended Nub Connecticut. They showed me how to cut, light and enjoy a fine hand rolled cigar. I am hooked. I have now been back multible times always a plesureful experiance. Brett is a no presure shows all options (cheap and expensive) fair pricing shop. I have visited to other area shops to compare pricing before I bought my first Humidor and box of cigars for the house. I am sorry I did. So insort Tobaccology definitely gets my seal of approval to.

This is an awesome shop. The owner (Brett) was very helpful in getting me started with my humidor and a selection of cigars to start off with. I’m new to the cigar world and have shown interest since my wife bought me a few at a fair that she went to. Brent was happy to help me and answer any questions I had regarding the humidor, lighting, cutting the cigar and so on.

I would HIGHLY recommend this shop. Good owner, good atmosphere and good prices.

With the weather turning cooler-making it hard to smoke outside-I think I’ll stop by and check out your establishment. I work in Manassas on Balls Ford Rd.-which is about 10 minutes from your location. One question-can I bring in my own cigars to smoke?
